Despite the efforts made by the Government of Uganda to introduce Universal primary and secondary education, the majority of women in Uganda are still either semi illiterate or completely illiterate
They straggle to earn a living through involving in petty businesses such as selling items like used clothes, both raw and cooked food, drinks and other petty items.
Therefore, in order to address the challenges faced by adolescent girls and young women, Child Link Foundation builds the capacity of adolescent girls and young women aged 15-24 to enable them acquire practical vocational skills so that they may become economically empowered and take care of their live and those in their care.
We train groups of adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in skills like hair dressing, wax candle making, craft shoes making, counter books making and catering.
After being equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge the clients go back, initiate and manage their own income generating enterprises.
Between June 2016 and July 2018, 3693 adolescent girls and women were trained in various skills that included; hair dressing, bakery, counter books making and craft shoes making.
On completion of 6months training, the AGYW sit for Directorate of industrial training exams and they graduate with certificate
